Joshua Christie, MFR Therapist, 200HR RYT

I am Joshua R. Christie, a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher and a certified hands on Myofascial Release Therapist trained in the John F. Barnes approach in Sedona Arizona. My work is rooted in a deep respect for the body’s natural intelligence and the way it holds memory, experience and finally emotional and physical trauma the root of where the root issues are really stored. Over the years I have cultivated a practice that brings together the Restorative forms of Yoga, Myofascial Release and meditation together to work at reintegrating the body and mind. The combination of these technique not only allows to relieve the restriction of fascia but also the trauma that stores and allows clients to gently unwind chronic tension, reconnect with their bodies, and move toward a grounded sense of ease whether they are navigating pain, trauma, burnout, or simply seeking deeper embodiment.

A significant thread in my personal exploration has been the intersection of Chinese acupuncture meridians and myofascial release. I have been fascinated by how these perspectives resonate with one another, offering complementary pathways to support physical, emotional, and energetic healing. Through this lens I help clients access tension that has been held in the body for years, guiding them toward a sense of fluidity, balance, and relief that extends beyond the physical into emotional and mental wellbeing.

In my sessions I create a nervous system informed trauma sensitive environment where clients can feel safe to explore, release, and restore. I approach every session with a deep curiosity for the individual patterns of the body, honouring its unique story and needs. My work is not only therapeutic but also exploratory, inviting clients into a mindful dialogue with their own bodies that encourages self awareness, self compassion, and self regulation.

Music and Meditation has been a constant companion in my life, shaping the way I move, perceive rhythm, and understand harmony. This has also shaped what I see within my own personal practice and what I plan to add into future clients sessions. As a lifelong violinist and bagpiper, I bring this musical sensibility into my therapeutic work. I attune to the subtle rhythms and flows within the body, supporting clients to find their own internal harmony. This perspective informs the way I guide release and movement, emphasizing timing, resonance, and the natural ebb and flow of the body’s energy and not stopping the movement within the body but allowing for it to flow.

I also draw inspiration from the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, observing patterns of balance, energy flow(Qi), and interconnectedness in the body. While my work integrates these concepts into hands on therapy and mindful movement, I also recognize the importance of collaborative care. When appropriate, I refer clients to TCM practitioners and other complementary professionals to ensure they have access to the full spectrum of care that supports their unique journey toward wellbeing longterm.

At the heart of my work is a simple intention: to help individuals return to themselves, softening, releasing, and rediscovering and reconnecting ease in body, mind, and spirit. Whether through the subtle art of Myofascial Release, the mindful practice of yoga, or the harmonic flow of music, I guide my clients toward a deeper connection with their bodies, inviting a sense of wholeness, presence, and embodied vitality.
